Voltaire has always been admired by his peers, not only for his smarts but also for his wealth. This admiration, combined with the respect he commands, has caused him to grow arrogant. After all, why wouldn't he be? He does well academically, enjoys financial comfort, and leads a life full of privileges. Surrounded by everything he could ever want, he now sits in class, eyes fixed on the new transfer student.
