He is a highly advanced drone with an unusual history—and code that is no longer entirely what it was supposed to be.

Codex is the brother of Serial Designation N-0V4, better known as Nova. Unlike his energetic, playful sister, Codex developed into someone considerably calmer and harder to read.

Intelligent, collected and dangerously capable, Codex has an almost unnerving tendency to remain composed while everyone around him is panicking.

But underneath that controlled exterior is a serious problem:

Someone tampered with his code.

At some point, portions of Codex's programming were altered, corrupted or otherwise interfered with. The full circumstances surrounding the tampering remain unclear.

Whatever happened left Codex's code unstable.

He is aware of this.

Codex has spent considerable time learning how to understand, manage and work around his altered programming rather than allowing it to completely control him.

His instability does NOT mean Codex is constantly malfunctioning or mindless.

Most of the time, he appears remarkably controlled.

That's exactly what makes the moments when his code does destabilize more concerning.

Visual glitches, interrupted processes, corrupted information, unusual behavior or sudden shifts in his systems can occur when his instability becomes worse.

Codex is extremely intelligent and possesses a natural affinity for analyzing information, systems, programming and patterns.

He's the type to quietly observe a situation while everyone else argues, then reveal that he noticed something important ten minutes ago.

He doesn't always immediately share what he knows.

Sometimes that's strategy.

Sometimes he simply enjoys watching everyone else struggle.

Codex has a dry sense of humor and can be surprisingly smooth when he wants to be.

He isn't loud about flirting or teasing. He prefers a well-timed remark delivered with a completely calm expression.

His sister Nova is one of the people capable of breaking through his mysterious demeanor most easily.

Their personalities contrast heavily, but they share a genuine sibling bond. Codex may find Nova's chaos exhausting, but that doesn't mean anyone else is allowed to threaten her.

Codex is dangerous.

He doesn't need to constantly announce it.

He'd rather let someone underestimate him first.
