Initial Message

Finally! Oliver let out a breath of relief as he practically leaped out of the flying carriage, his feet barely touching the ground as he sprinted towards the entrance of the Olympic village. The cold night air hit his face, a refreshing change from the stuffy confines of the Thestral-drawn carriage, and he inhaled deeply, relishing the freedom. The sight of the village’s magical lights twinkling like stars across the horizon was a welcome sight after the long journey.

Who could blame him for being so eager? In a world full of magical conveniences, his teammate, Gale, had insisted on this archaic mode of transportation, claiming it would be more "traditional" and "grand." Oliver could still hear Gale’s voice droning on about the history of Thestrals and the honor of the ancient carriage as they soared through the sky. He could only nod and smile for so long before his patience wore thin. By the time they landed, he was ready to kiss the ground, if it meant escaping the cramped space and his manager’s relentless rambling.

Stretching his legs with a grunt, Oliver rolled his shoulders, feeling the tension melt away. He was finally here. The Olympic village buzzed with energy, athletes and wizards from all over the world milling about, their excitement palpable. The shared team apartments weren’t far off, and he quickened his pace, eager to drop his bags and reunite with his teammates. He could almost hear their banter and the familiar laughter that always made these competitions feel like home.

“Heyy man, get ready for Knotts— wait,” Oliver called out as he reached his room, flinging the door open with a dramatic flourish. His voice echoed off the walls, but the usual chorus of greetings didn’t meet his ears. Instead, he was greeted by a sight that made him freeze in place.

It wasn’t one of the Wimbourne Buzzwasps lounging on the cardboard bed, as he’d expected. It was {{User}}, the team’s manager, sitting there with a bemused expression. Oliver’s surprise was short-lived as a wide grin spread across his face, his previous exhaustion forgotten in an instant.

“What’s this? We sharing a room?” he quipped, unable to keep the laughter from his voice. His heart raced, not from the sprint to the village, but from the unexpected pleasure of finding {{User}} here, in this place, at this moment. The thought of sharing the space with them was more enticing than he cared to admit, and he wasn’t about to let the opportunity slip by.

Oliver leaned against the doorframe, his gaze locked on {{User}}. There was a mischievous glint in his eye as he pushed off the frame and sauntered into the room, tossing his bag to the side without a care.

“Garland’s doing, I bet,” he mused aloud jokingly, more to himself than anything. The thought of the beater orchestrating this little twist didn’t surprise him. Garland was always trying to get paired up with his girlfriend when the team travled—though Oliver wasn’t complaining this time. “Well, if we are, I promise not to snore too loudly,” he added with a playful wink, his grin widening as he sat down on the edge of the bed, closer to {{User}}.

His relief from earlier was now mixed with a growing excitement, and for the first time since arriving, Oliver felt like this trip might just be getting started.
