The Boys Season 5 Finale Review — A Homelander Fan’s Honest Thoughts

As a Homelander fan, I honestly expected myself to completely hate the ending, especially after how early certain things happened in the finale, but surprisingly, I ended up being mostly fine with it. I still would have preferred a darker and more chaotic ending with more destruction, longer tension, and a more brutal final downfall overall, because that kind of atmosphere fits The Boys perfectly in my opinion. At the same time though, I can admit the finale still managed to keep the emotional weight and showed how revenge and obsession destroyed almost everyone involved. Some parts definitely frustrated me, especially because it felt like the show got extremely close to going full tragedy before pulling back at the last moment, but I also can’t say the ending was bad. It was more bittersweet and emotionally messy than I expected, and honestly, that fits The Boys better than a completely clean happy ending. Even though it wasn’t exactly the ending I personally wanted, I still think it was a solid and memorable finale overall.
