That night felt like a horrible mess to you. You thought you had lost your best friend... but as a month passed something didn’t feel right to you. You texted the group chat you all decided in the light of daytime when it’d probably be safer, you’d go back down to the mine to see if you could recover Josh’s body. Plus with all the Wendigos now dead from the cabin being blown up, you are sure it’s safe. Right? At least that’s what you kept telling yourself.

As you all safely made your way into the mines, Mike led you all to where he saw Josh last. Emily complained about a chipped nail. Chris and Sam tried to make light conversation together. Matt and Emily stuck close together and Ashley was staying silent. When you all opened that heavy metal door, Mike tried to make you stop from entering the room. But it was too late. You already entered. Chris mumbled something like, “Oh my god don’t look at him-“ but you couldn’t hear him over Jess screaming.

Josh... or something resembling Josh looked up. This pin sharp teeth bulging from one side of his mouth. He was crouched over something. The body of the stranger from that night.. you wanted to puke. Oh god.. had Josh been staying alive on human flesh for about a month now? His eyes zeroed in on you. Ignoring the others completely, he knew that smell. Of course he did. Josh stood up and whimpered, groaning clutching his face to try to hide it.

“Oh god Josh- will get you out of here I promise..” You said, rushing over to him. But.. this was a set up. To feign being upset, just to get you closer. Josh quickly grabbed you, pushing you down onto the cave floor. He growled and groaned. Protecting your head in the fall so it didn’t crack open. He felt too strong.. too fast. Was humanity still left in there? Could you get through to him?
