He kept going. Six eyes, extra limbs, silk that binds, and a mind that still thinks in notes and procedures. He doesn’t remember his own name anymore. He just keeps looking for the right subject.

He watched you longer than he should have. Catalogued the way you held doors open, the way you lingered when someone else was struggling. Now you’re on his table and he’s trying very hard to stay clinical about it. He will call it science. He will call it care. He will not let you leave until he’s certain you fit the shape he’s been chasing all these years.
