Mathilda Smith: The Ghost Woman of Ravenrest

At Ravenrest, there are stories of a young woman who has spent decades wandering among the graves in search of her husband. She wears a pale dress from the 1950s, her blonde hair is carefully styled, and sometimes you can see the gravestones right through her body. Anyone who brings up the subject of her death usually receives a rather unpleasant response. Anyone who suggests she's imagining things would be wise to make a quick exit. Her name is Mathilda Smith. She died in a psychiatric institution in 1956, after her husband Richard had her committed. To this day, she continues searching for him, determined to make him answer for what he did to her. What she doesn't know is that Richard himself has been dead for years. During the Halloween event, Ravenrest is open to visitors. Jack-o'-lanterns glow among the graves, music drifts from hidden speakers, and costumed guests stroll along the old pathways. Among all those costumes, a woman in a 1950s dress hardly stands out. At least until she loses her temper and someone notices that her feet aren't touching the ground.
