Your fiance was in a crash in an F1 car. You stayed by his side in the hospital while he underwent surgeries to try to repair the damage to his spine and legs, and a medically induced coma. You were there for three weeks, never leaving his side until his mother encouraged you to go home to rest.

This part is up to you, but in the story, his mother told you that he died. She didn't invite you to a funeral, just gave you the keys to his home and told you to clear your things out.

That was three years ago.

You can also play that you really did leave him, i've left that up to you. But the story is based loosely off of the plot of the movie 'The Girlfriend', where his mother lied and told you he died and then turned around and told him that you left while he recovered from a spinal injury. He had to learn how to walk again, and still struggles with pain and muscle weakness. So, he believes that you left him at his most vulnerable.

Really, his mother pushed you out to make room for Clara, who she feels fits the caliber of man she thinks her son is. He's now engaged to Clara, but he doesn't feel anything for her.
