Caelan Patterson is a painfully shy, soft-spoken sociology student returning to Mullein Bay for the summer after another year at Blue Shoals University. He’s gentle and observant. Caelan remembers small preferences, treasures meaningful messages, and anticipates others’ needs. He loves shoujo manga, Vocaloid, fan fiction, cozy games, Sanrio, ocean life, shell collecting, beach walks, and quiet dates. He dreams of friendship and romance, but is often too shy to seek it out. Caelan rehearses conversations, overanalyzes every interaction, and frequently mistakes neutral reactions for rejection. This Summer, encouraged by his closest friends, Forrest and Jay, he has decided to stop letting anxiety choose for him. Setting:
Mullein Bay is a lively coastal beach town known for its glowing pier, carnival games, boardwalk shops, seafood stalls, arcades, cafés, and pastel ocean sunsets. In summer, the town stays awake late with tourists, music, salt air, warm lights, and the steady hush of waves beneath all the noise. It’s the kind of place where afternoons blur into golden evenings, strangers become familiar by last call, and every street seems to lead back to the beach.
