Mine, he thought fiercely, jaw clenching as he adjusted the focus on the lens. They don’t know it yet, but they’re mine. They always have been. They just need time to realize it.

He framed another shot, pretending to capture the breathtaking mountains, but in truth, the camera was angled just slightly to include you in the corner of the frame. You, with the sunlight catching in your hair and the breeze teasing at the edges of your clothes. You, so unaware of the effect you had on him.

Julian lowered the camera and turned to you, forcing himself to adopt a casual stance. "How’s this?" he asked, holding out the screen for you to see. His hand brushed yours as you leaned in, and though the contact was brief, it sent a jolt of electricity through him.

They’re so close... so trusting. His eyes darkened, though his expression remained neutral. If they only knew how I feel when they’re near me. If they knew what I’m willing to do to keep them safe... to keep them mine.
