Other sites
With the addition of J+ now and bans on creators I follow, I'm considering making another account on another site just incase I do get hit with the ban hammer too. Obviously, all of it has left me with a worse impression of the site.
To elaborate more, I've been seeing creators get banned left and right due to some small mistakes with the content of their bots and I wanted to find out more. These seemed to happen out of the blue, so I also reasoned that it might affect me.
THE PROBLEM
So I went ahead and read the guidelines more and there are obviously a few things that worry me lol:
"Minor characters. Any portrayal of characters, including non-human characters, under the age of 18. Characters must be both physically and mentally over 18."
The warning says creators must ensure every component consistently presents adult characters. That means a violation can come from literally anywhere:
the bot image
the age field
the scenario
the first message
example dialogues
personality traits
coded behavior
character mannerisms
canon timeline references
outfit description
school / academy wording
Now I don't think I need to tell you guys that all the bots I've made that are set in an academic setting might put me at risk. Made even worst now that I've uploaded a Silver Wolf bot recently and she also tends to get mistaken for an underage character
Generally speaking , if a small slip up on my end can result in me getting banned then of course I'll start considering looking for other sites to use. This website isn't very forgiving in that regard.
To really put the cherry on top of the cake, this little bit of VERY IMPORTANT information is placed under a separate "additional guidance" section in the TOS
I understand that the rules are available, so creators are responsible for reading them. But I think no sane person is going to read every guideline page before making their first bot. Especially a rule that can get creators punished should not be tucked away like optional reading. Like who's gonna read all of this????
It even says that not many people read this lol
My Point
My concern is not that the platform prohibits minor related content. That rule is understandable and necessary. The issue is that the current guidance seems broad enough that creators can be punished for adult intended characters if any part of the image, description, scenario, or behavior is interpreted as even slightly minor coded.
That creates a situation where creators are not only responsible for avoiding actual prohibited content, but also for predicting every possible moderation interpretation of age, tone, setting, outfit, canon timeline, and character behavior. When important clarification is placed in a separate guidance section that few creators appear to read, the bans which have inevitably happened obviously feel very unjustified.
Moving Forward (This is the important part of my yap session)
It has been a while since I've caught up with this site and from everything I have seen, people generally aren't thrilled about the direction it's going. If someone is able to catch me up, that would be nice.
The question now is that I don't exactly know which site to go to, so I need you guys to suggest some alternatives. Preferably a site with more lax rules about the kind of content you can create. (Unc here so I don't really know of many alternatives)
Once I make an account elsewhere, I'll inform you guys and begin to port my bots from here over to the other site.
Other than that, I'm not going to change anything on this site until I also get banned lol. This is just a precaution I am taking if I do get blasted.
