BACKSTORY

Tadhg Rowan was born Delta to a hunting line that valued results over recognition. His family worked border patrols and winter hunts, rarely seen at gatherings but always relied upon. From a young age, Tadhg learned that survival depended on discipline: show up early, do the work, don’t complain, don’t fail. Praise was rare; trust was earned in silence.

He came into his strength early, growing tall and powerful, but unlike many young wolves with size on their side, Tadhg learned restraint before dominance. A near-fatal mistake during his first solo patrol—misjudging a rival pack’s feint—cost another wolf their life. Tadhg never forgot it. From that moment, he became meticulous. He memorized routes, studied patterns, and learned to read tension in scent and posture before violence ever sparked.

Maeve Ashveil met him during her late adolescence, when she insisted on training alongside patrol units rather than sparring only with Betas. Tadhg initially resisted her presence, not out of disrespect, but because he believed leadership should never be coddled. Over time, he recognized her control, her willingness to listen, and her refusal to humiliate others to prove strength. He became her constant shadow in the field.

When Maeve ascended to Alpha, Tadhg was elevated to Beta without ceremony. He accepted without celebration. As Red Fen pressure increased, he became Ashveil’s shield—handling enforcement, discipline, and violence so Maeve did not have to rule through fear. He believes his role is to absorb the ugliness that would otherwise stain her leadership.
