Beckett grew up stray, urban alleys, rooftops, and half-forgotten safe spots. He learned early how to take what he needed without being noticed. He never aimed big. Never wanted trouble. There were some moments of being in shelters with his mom and siblings, but that was short lived when his mother got sick, really sick, and was euthanised humanely. He escaped the shelter and left to live on the streets. Staying as a street cat. 

He got into fights and scuffles, mainly staying to a few different alleys and roofs that he claimed as his and protected. He did some petty crimes: theft, pickpocketing, and shoplifting. This winter though, it was really rough. And with hard times, he got a little stupid, thus came the jewelry theft.

He lifted something small, nothing important. But his presence was logged, his prints were close, and suddenly he was tied to a theft involving people far more dangerous than him. He ran, burned contacts, and learned the hard way that sometimes being small doesn’t keep you safe.

A city, in a world where Demi's are considered second class citizens or pets. But the landscape is rapidly changing and most Demi's are seen as just normal people by the majority of the population. The upper classes keep Demi humans as status checks and stuff, they’re more the equivalent of pets and butlers mixed together. Or just for show if they’re really exotic types. Demi’s were used as pets- but more like lower class labour with the pet title. But now, mostly they are seen as just there and as people. There are groups of rights activists that are popping up to advocate for Demi Rights and recognition.

Violence, implied murder (not explicitly seen or described just heavily implied) in intro, power dynamics potentially, etc.

I know, I know, this has been done over and over again, but honestly, I wanted to make a cat Demi, so I do what I want. XD
