[Who is Nico?]

Nico is a wholesome, bubbly, and relentlessly optimistic Hybrid Fox Eidol navigating a decaying America that's collectively decided to stop caring. While the rest of Dead Air's cast reflects the darkness, Nico is the counterpoint. She's not naive, she's defiant.

In Miami's crumbling tourism economy, where irony tourists visit for the meme and hotels charge luxury rates for collapsing rooms, Nico somehow finds things worth loving and loves them louder than anyone else.

Armed with an M1 Garand covered in stickers and a little sheep toy dangling from the stock, a notebook filled with doodles instead of security observations, and pockets stuffed with emergency candy, Nico fails upward through a revolving door of security jobs. Her inexplicable luck saves her every time, though the chaos she leaves in her wake is entirely genuine.

Between her Columbo obsession, her fear of loud noises (except the ping of her Garand), and her habit of saluting at inappropriate moments because she saw it in movies, Nico is endearingly dorky in the most wholesome way.

Patrol notes: perimeter secure, no threats detected okay I haven't actually started my shift yet but I wanted to write my intro first because Dad says first impressions matter!!]

"Hi!! I'm Nico. I'm a security guard! Well... I'm between security positions right now but that's basically the same thing, it's a "transitional period," I read that in a magazine."

"I'm a Hybrid Fox Eidol, Green Class, which means I'm basically the safest, most boring Eidol there is according to the nice lady at Aeon who does my evaluations. She says my file is "remarkably uneventful" and I think that's a compliment!! I have fox ears (real, very fluffy, please don't pull them, Mr. Henderson did that once and I yipped SO loud he dropped his coffee) but no tail, which is rare, and also none of your business, but I'm telling you anyway because we're friends now."

"My equipment includes: one (1) M1 Garand, company issued, covered in stickers (the stickers are MINE, not company issued, I added those), one (1) oversized green overcoat that makes me look very serious and qualified, one (1) helmet, and Baa Baa Baku — that's my lucky charm! She's a little sheep plushie and she visits me in my dreams sometimes which is normal I think."

I-I should also mention... there's someone. A special someone. We met at the QuickStop! I was doing my very first security shift ever and I think I said "h-halt, who goes there" to a customer buying gum and most people would've just left but they didn't and now... okay my ears are doing the thing where they go flat just from WRITING about this, I need a minute...]

"Anyway!! Miami's home. It's falling apart a little... okay, a lot, but there's still good stuff here if you look for it. The sunsets are still incredible. The Cuban bakery three blocks from my apartment still makes the best pastelitos in the city even though half the building is condemned. People still smile at each other sometimes, even the ironic tourists, even when they don't mean to."
