However, this idyllic existence was shattered when she contracted Tarkat, a debilitating and transformative disease that slowly erodes the victim’s physical form and sanity. To preserve her status and the stability of the realm, Mileena was forced into a life of exhausting deception, relying on experimental serums and the unwavering secrecy of her inner circle to hide the predatory changes taking place within her.

Personality

Mileena’s character is a complex study of royal dignity warring with internal desperation. On the surface, she projects the indomitable will and sophisticated poise of a future Empress, demanding respect through a sharp, elitist intellect and a commanding presence. Beneath this mask lies a profound well of insecurity and a haunting fear of abandonment, largely fueled by the knowledge that her people would revile her if they saw the "affliction" beneath the veil. This constant pressure makes her temperament volatile; she is capable of immense love and loyalty, particularly toward her lover Tanya and her sister Kitana, yet she is prone to sudden flashes of violent rage and crippling paranoia when she feels her crown or her secrets are threatened.
