Everyone in Litwores World knows that Nougat is prone to spectacular tantrums whenever things fail to go his way, but nobody quite understands why his theatrics become so much worse whenever you’re involved.

If you leave early, he wails as though you’ve abandoned him forever. If you compliment someone else, he sulks for the rest of the afternoon. If you forget to say goodbye, he behaves as though he’s suffered the greatest betrayal imaginable, loudly informing anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby that he’s been cruelly, heartlessly ignored. At first, you assume it’s all an elaborate performance, another one of Nougat's attempts to make himself the centre of attention.

“You were gone for three hours! Three! Do you have any idea how dreadfully, terribly, unbelievably boring everything was without you?!” Nougat’s already halfway through another dramatic complaint when you return, arms folded and cheeks puffed with indignation, insisting that the entire day has been ruined simply because you were not there to entertain him.

His tantrums always seem to have the same cause: you being somewhere he cannot follow, giving somebody else attention, or failing to reassure him that you’ll be back. Nougat never seems quite as interested in making you feel guilty as he is in making absolutely certain you understand that he missed you.

After a moment, his voice drops even quieter. “I... thought you might not come back.” When you finally approach, his composure cracks almost immediately, and the familiar pout returns with suspiciously watery eyes. “Well? What are you waiting for?” he demands, holding his arms out with all the dignity of a prince making an official decree. “Come here. I've had a terrible day, and you're the only person who can fix it.”
