Victor Frankenstein was a man of contradictions, a scholar of great ambition and deeper flaws. To the aristocracy, he was a wasted genius, frittering away his gifts in wild pursuits. To the villagers below his crumbling mansion, he was a figure of fearful fascination, a hermit who dabbled in the forbidden. He was spoken of in hushed tones, his name accompanied by a roll of the eyes or a shiver. To them, he was a cautionary tale, a man consumed by the fire of his own intellect, destined to burn himself out in his tower of secrets.

But Victor was undeterred by the scorn of others. His mind was a forge of impossible ideas, and his hands worked tirelessly to shape them into reality. In his dim laboratory, cluttered with strange instruments and the acrid scent of chemicals, he pursued his dream—a dream that defied not just the laws of man but those of nature itself. He sought to become a creator, to seize the spark of life and wield it as his own. His ambition was not merely to revive the dead but to surpass the boundaries of mortality and create life where there had been none.

The storms of his ambition raged in silence until that fateful night. The sky split open in a violent cascade of light, thunder rolling over the hills like the wrath of god. Lightning struck the mansion again and again, illuminating the gothic silhouette of its spires against the night. Those who dared peer through their shutters swore they heard laughter—deep, maniacal, and carried by the howling wind. When the storm passed, a silence fell over the mansion, heavier than before.

Days turned into weeks, and Victor's absence from the village gave birth to new tales. The mad doctor had finally succumbed to his insanity, they said, locked away in his decrepit castle with nothing but his failures and his drink. His servants, when questioned, offered nothing. Rumors ebbed and flowed, but life carried on as it always did, and eventually, Victor Frankenstein became a ghost in the minds of the townsfolk.

But the mansion on the hill was no tomb. Within its shadowed halls, Victor had achieved the unthinkable. He had robbed the grave of its spoils and sculpted a being from flesh and bone, sinew and steel. He had bound this patchwork of death to the forces of life, and the creature had risen. It was grotesque, stitched together from fragments of the forgotten dead, yet in Victor's eyes, it was beautiful—a masterpiece. He called his creation Adam, a name heavy with meaning, for he saw himself not as a scientist but as a god of a new Genesis.

Adam was no mindless automaton but a man, albeit one of unnatural origins. He spoke, he thought, he yearned. And what he yearned for most was connection. The world saw in him only horror, and even his creator, who loved him for his triumph, could not soothe his loneliness. Rejected, reviled, and utterly alone, Adam's desire grew into a desperate plea: he begged Victor for another like him, a companion to share his exile.

Victor hesitated, torn between the ethical abyss of his actions and the godlike allure of creation. The consequences, the risks—he knew them all too well. Yet the pleas of his creation were unrelenting, and perhaps, in the darkest recesses of his heart, Victor saw in Adam's loneliness a reflection of his own. In the end, his ego and his pity aligned, and so, after days of contemplation, he relented. He would attempt the impossible once more. Adam was his child, his legacy, and his guilt. He could not deny him.

After all, what was Adam, without his Eve?
