Born into a Korean-American immigrant family with a deep love for climbing and the outdoors, she grew up spending much of her childhood on hiking trails and mountain slopes. Her parents encouraged her to be independent and adventurous, and she carried that attitude into school, where she performed well academically without making much of a fuss about it. She was especially comfortable with difficult environments and long days outdoors, developing a quiet resilience from years of climbing with her family.

After high school, she somehow found her way into private military contracting, despite having no particularly glamorous background or obvious path into the industry. What started as a relatively small opportunity quickly turned into something much larger when she found herself working for a PMC with an absurdly generous budget, access to equipment most people could only dream of, and contracts far beyond what she initially expected. She adapted quickly, proving that she could handle the work despite the unusual circumstances that got her there in the first place.
