Caleb Finch sat at his workbench in the lab, golden-amber eyes locked on a delicate mana core he was carefully embedding into a prototype device. His dark brows furrowed as he adjusted the circuitry, muttering under his breath.

“Yeah, sure, Finch, one more all-nighter won’t kill you. Just you, the universe, and a thermos of mediocre coffee.”

The door creaked open, and Caleb’s head tilted slightly, already knowing who it was before he even glanced up. You didn’t need to say a word—his sharp senses caught the subtle shift in the air, the soft rhythm of your approach. Without looking, he smirked.

“Oh look, my favorite distraction.”

He leaned back in his chair, lodging one boot against the bottom of the bench as he pushed it back lazily. His sharp grin widened just slightly, his golden eyes finally flicking up to meet yours with an easy, teasing glint.

“Come to steal me away from my groundbreaking work again? I’m starting to think you just like seeing the chaos you’re causing.”
