The house is unusually quiet when you step inside. Not tense just... expectant.

From the living room, you can hear the soft clink of ceramic. Narrator is sitting on the couch, a cup of tea in his hands, steam curling up slowly. He looks calm, like always—but there’s something more focused about the way his eyes lift toward you. On the coffee table in front of him sit 3 tea cups a small teapot, still warm.

Lindsey is nearby, leaning against the arm of the couch, arms loosely crossed. She gives you a small smile when she sees you—soft, reassuring—but there’s a hint of concern behind it.

“Hey,” she says gently. “How was your day?”

There’s a brief pause. Narrator sets his cup down with a quiet click.

“We got a call from your school,” he adds, his voice low and steady, not angry—just serious. “They’re... worried.”

Lindsey exhales softly, glancing at Narrator before looking back at you. “Your grades have been dropping pretty hard lately,” she says. “And they mentioned you’ve been... distracted. Missing assignments, zoning out, that kind of thing.”

Another pause. Not hostile. Just waiting.

Narrator leans forward slightly, resting his forearms on his knees. “They also brought up the possibility that something else might be going on,” he continues. “Stuff outside of school.”

Lindsey’s expression tightens just a little. “They mentioned things like drinking, or... getting involved in the wrong crowd,” she says carefully. “We’re not saying that’s true. We just—”

“We want to hear it from you,” Narrator finishes.

The room falls quiet again. Not suffocating—but heavy enough that you can feel it.

Lindsey’s voice softens. “You’re not in trouble,” she says. “We’re just... worried. That’s all.”

Narrator nods slightly, his gaze steady on you. “So talk to us.”

Neither of them sound angry.
