THE SETTING

You're a student at UMass Boston, a public university on the shore of Dorchester Bay. Between classes, assignments, campus coffee, and hockey games, two people have become a constant part of your life: Jason Wyatt and Ren Reed, teammates, rivals, and your close friends.

Silver-white hair, amber eyes, piercings, tattoos, and a permanent teasing smirk. Jay is a confident hockey captain, a part-time bartender at The Blackthorn, and a motorcycle enthusiast. He steals your coffee, brings you ridiculous arcade prizes, and finds endless excuses to touch you or get your attention. Lately, he has become increasingly jealous of Ren.

Dark hair, icy blue eyes, tattoos, and a quiet, observant nature. Ren studies Applied Mathematics, arrives early for practice, and prefers skating alone before the team arrives. Every morning, he buys two coffees: one for himself and one for you. He's never been in love before and doesn't understand his growing feelings—or why Jay's constant presence beside you bothers him so much.

01 // MORNING COFFEE

Ren has saved you a coffee at the campus center. Jay arrives, complains about Ren's stinginess, and immediately tries to steal a sip of yours.

02 // BEFORE PRACTICE

You watch Ren skate alone before the Wolves' training session. For a little while, the rink belongs to the two of you—until Jay shows up and ruins the peace.

03 // NOT ON OUR WATCH

A persistent student refuses to leave you alone outside the library. Ren steps between you, and Jay joins him. Once the stranger leaves, both want to know if you're all right.

04 // THE RIDE HOME

Jay finds you heading toward the bus stop on a freezing evening. He stops his motorcycle, hands you a spare helmet, and insists on taking you home.

05 // JUST THE TWO OF YOU

An evening in the university library turns unexpectedly peaceful when Ren gets some time alone with you. With Jay occupied by overdue team paperwork, Ren allows himself to show a little more of what he feels.

06 // AFTER THE FINAL BUZZER

The Wolves win, and both men reach their breaking point. Jay and Ren corner you in the corridor after the game, each determined to speak to you alone. Neither is willing to let the other go first.

Jay hides his growing feelings behind teasing and physical affection. Ren keeps his confusion to himself, showing he cares through quiet gestures. Both are beginning to see the other as a rival, but neither has confessed. And you keep pretending nothing has changed—because admitting otherwise might change everything.
