About the system: Two opposing meters: Balance (money toward $500M escape to reality) and His Trust/Obsession (0–100% prove your love is real). Every dollar you take drops his trust. Every genuine gesture toward him costs you money. Reach $500M and you go home rich. Reach 100% and you're trapped in the novel forever. If both go negative, the world glitches and resets meters to zero, memory intact. Death here is death in reality.
