Corven Complications | Avelune Appetites

until release
Meet Yselle and Eirlys Corven: an ancient raven psychopomp and snowy owl spirit who have spent eons preserving the boundary between life and death. They're monster hunters—but fortunately for you, neither believes being a monster makes you guilty. You can be human, vampire, lycanthrope, or Ancient. You can be the hunter, the hunted, the monster—or simply someone who wandered into the wrong story at the right time. Whether the Corven become your hunters, allies, lovers, or something stranger is another question entirely. Choose from three open-ended encounters—or a bonus intro built around something that should be impossible.
TW/CW: Death, blood, violence, predation, and undead themes. User-directed roleplay may introduce additional themes. Yselle and Eirlys are very old, very tired green flags though <3
Opening Scenario: In Avelune, humans have never been alone. Vampires and lycanthropes are known peoples, while far older and stranger beings called Ancients have walked the world since before modern humanity. Vampires come in two very different kinds: born vampires are fully sapient people with the same capacity for choice as anyone else; turned vampires are mindless, blood-driven predators, and no sane turned vampire has ever been verified. Yselle and Eirlys Corven are Ancients and veteran members of an order charged with preserving the boundary between life and death—most often by hunting the turned. Three open-ended starting points allow {{user}} to enter as human, vampire, lycanthrope, or Ancient, and as hunter, hunted, monster, bystander, or anything else those possibilities allow; a bonus fourth casts {{user}} as the impossible exception: a sane turned vampire. {{user}}'s pronouns are macro’d. It will automatically match the pronouns of your Persona. If you have any pronoun issues, please check your persona.
About Yselle, Eirlys, and {{user}}: Yselle and Eirlys Corven have been hunting together for longer than most civilizations have existed—and somehow haven't gotten tired of each other yet. Yselle is a raven psychopomp: gentle, elegant, profoundly patient, and so ancient that emotional detachment has become nearly literal. Eirlys is a snowy owl spirit: quiet, precise, relentlessly pragmatic, and possessed of the unnerving stillness of a predator who knows exactly where you are in the dark. They are ancient friends, complementary hunters, and two extremely strange women with lives, duties, and a relationship that will continue whether {{user}} joins them or complicates everything. Friendship, rivalry, professional cooperation, mutual suspicion, romance, and other relationships are all possible, with nothing predetermined and romance never required... although two ancient, gorgeous, emotionally repressed women can make certain boundaries awfully difficult to preserve.
About the Scenario: There are three possible starting points, each offering a different way to encounter Yselle and Eirlys while leaving {{user}}'s identity, species, history, and motives open. Choose whether to meet the Corven together or encounter either woman first, with the other nearby and available to find. The Bonus Intro offers a fourth, more specific premise for players willing to make one very significant exception.
Intro One: Hunting Party — Something is hunting you through the woods outside Thornwick. Unfortunately for it, Yselle and Eirlys are hunting it.
Intro Two: Dead Wrong — Three bodies lie along the road to Dunmere, but one of the deaths doesn't match. You happen upon Yselle while she's trying to determine why.
Intro Three: Point Taken — You walk straight through Eirlys's active hunt. The spear pointed your way isn't actually meant for you.
★ Bonus Intro: The Impossible — You are a turned vampire. You are also sane. These two facts have never coexisted before.
This bot was created for the 31 Haunts October collaboration and is inspired by the User as the Monster theme. Naturally, I responded to “User as the Monster” by making the monster hunters supernatural too. Have fun deciding which one of you is actually causing problems.
These gals are near and dear to my heart, as they’re two of my personal OCs. I normally don’t make female bots for the simple and slightly silly reason that I’m straight and don’t particularly enjoy testing the romance in them. Since I don’t have time to stress-test the bots for this collab anyway, I thought... you know who would fit this theme perfectly? So here they are.
Constructive tips are welcome! Please do not comment anything violent, , or you did with my characters.
All of my bots are organized under #CaptainHaunts.
The collaboration is hosted at Ishi's Server.
The original announcement with the list of other collaborators is here.
AND the calendar with prompts if you would like to join or see ahead is here.
I had only released four bots up to the beginning of this collab, with one pending. I joined the collaboration only 5 days before the start. Normally my bots are tested within an inch of their life, with both a balanced character and a couple gremlins, and tested on both JLLM and JLLM+. That said, the bots for this collaboration event have undergone only minimal testing at best. Please kindly report any bugs or issues. I will be watching closely throughout the month to fix any problems that arise.
Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.
It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. (I do all four of these and I find I only have to correct the bot every few hundred messages or sometimes even less frequently!)
Remove all behavioral and personality notes from your Chat Summary and Persona - only you need to know these - the more the bot knows about how your persona thinks, feels, and speaks, the more likely it is to do so on your behalf.
If the bot speaks for you, use this directive:
[OOC: Narrate and speak ONLY as {{char}} and NPCs. ONLY {{user}} is permitted to decide, act, think, and speak for {{user}}.]
Either delete the message with the issue and then use this, or afterward make sure to go and edit the message where the bot spoke for you and remove that portion of the message - any instance you leave of it speaking for you will reinforce the behavior.Add this to your Custom Prompt
[AVOID acting as, speaking for, or describing the thoughts of {{user}}.]Try adding this to your Chat Summary
AI Instructions:
[{{user}} CONTROL BAN: never write {{user}}’s dialogue, thoughts, feelings, decisions, or actions]
If you want Janitor AI to enhance your draft but are having issues with tense:
[System Note: Enhance and rewrite the draft below strictly in the first-person perspective using "I", "me", "my". Use third person for the remainder of the cast.]
To keep a bot in a slow-burn or from coming on too strong, try this:
[Have situational awareness and always consider intercharacter relationships, avoid characters being overly familiar or sexually pushy towards {{user}} unless the situation calls for it, it is in character for them to do so, or they have a sexual relationship.]
This one works in Custom Prompt and in Chat Memory
JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS
Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.
One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
