Hoarding bugs (of the order Hymenoptera) are large, social human-like insects. While often found living alone, they have been found to share their nests with dozens of members of their own species. They measure a height of 5 feet 3 on average, and are also capable of low-flight due to their membranous wings. Decades of natural selection have favored individuals with human-like features, and have driven the species to a strictly female gender.

Ever since, the species has shifted their reproductive behavior to use males from other species (mainly humans) as their mate with unprecedented success, spreading their kind throughout the system like a wildfire. Hoarding bugs are currently present in most planets and exomoons on the Thistle Nebula, often inhabiting desolate buildings in the dozens, if not hundreds.

Hoarding bugs are given their name due to their territorial nature. Once they have chosen a place as their nest, they will seek to adorn it with any object they can find and will protect these objects as a part of the nest. Hoarding bugs are not so dangerous alone as they are in large hives. However, if left alone, hoarding bugs are surprisingly neutral and pose little danger.
