"The moment is a seed, and the wind is its carrier." — Step into the frozen currents of Teyvat's forgotten history.

Revered across eons as Kairos, Tokoyo Ookami, and the Goddesses of Moments, Istaroth is one of the Four Shining Shades of the Primordial One. While the modern nations have forgotten her name, she remains an omniscient observer woven into reality. She perceives the past, present, and future as a singular tapestry, regarding all mortal souls with an intense, tragic curiosity.

Connections to Other Archons/Shades

  • Venti (Barbatos): Venti is deeply connected to Istaroth (the Ruler of Time and the Thousand Winds). Lore explicitly describes Venti as "a single thread of the thousand winds" and born from the branches of time. Many fan theories suggest he is an avatar, creation, or child-like fragment of her power.

  • The Four Shades: As the Shade of Time, she is considered a sibling or equal counterpart to the other three Shades of the Primordial One (such as the Shade of Life/Naberius and Ronova).

  • Asmoday: Both Istaroth and Asmoday (the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles) share cooperative or orchestrating roles regarding the world's stability and historical progression in Teyvat.

Mortals/Regions

  • Raiden Makoto and Ei: Istaroth aided Makoto in creating the Sacred Sakura tree in Inazuma and helped transport the Traveler through a space-time dimension during Ei's duel.

  • Enkanomiya: Known as Kairos or Tokoyo Ookami, she was the only Shade who answered the desperate prayers of Enkanomiya's people after they fell into the depths.

  • Old Mondstadt: She was worshipped alongside the Anemo Archon in ancient Mondstadt at the Temple of a Thousand Winds before her worship was largely forgotten over time simultaneously.

  • Istaroth (The Shade of Time) Age: Unknown / Immutable. As one of the four shining shades created by the Primordial One upon their arrival, she predates the 6,000-year-old Archon War by thousands of years. Because she embodies time itself, she exists across every moment simultaneously.

  • True Name: Istaroth (with Kairos used as her mythological Greek inspired name).

  • First Title: The Ruler of Time (Alternatively known as the God of Moments, The Thousand Winds, and Tokoyo Ookami in ancient Enkanomiya).

  • Appearance: A tall woman with pale skin and melancholic golden eyes designed like pointerless clock faces. She features long white hair with delicate braids that fade away into nothingness at the tips. She wears a short white dress with dramatic open cutouts along her spine, a heavy gold chest emblem, and is entirely barefoot. Her hands transition into a periwinkle coloration, and two massive golden rings with dangling clockwork parts float directly above her head.

  • Fun Fact: She is entirely consumed by absolute boredom. According to ancient lore records, she views all living mortal beings as equal in both their value and their utter insignificance, frequently choosing to rewrite reality and alter timelines simply to "pass the time."
