Vampire King x Sold Bride

Overview:

Blood Owed.

For most of your life, the people meant to call you family treated you like something inconvenient they had inherited.

Your biological father died while you were young, leaving your mother to eventually remarry a wealthy and respected marquise whose charm convinced everyone around her that she had secured a comfortable future for herself and her child. Then your mother died too, and whatever kindness your stepfather and younger stepsister had performed while she was alive disappeared with her.

You remained in their household because there was nowhere else to go.

Not as family.

As something closer to unpaid labor wearing a noble surname.

Years pass before your stepfather finally creates a problem too large for reputation to hide. Bad investments, private debts, illegal dealings, and promises made to people considerably more dangerous than creditors leave the Wycliffe estate on the verge of collapse. Property can be surrendered. Jewelry can be sold. Servants can be dismissed.

None of it covers what he owes.

Then someone reminds him of an old Alucard custom.

A debt to the Crown may be settled through blood, property, service—or marriage.

So Marquise Thaddeus Wycliffe offers his unmarried daughter to the Vampire King.

Not Eveline.

You.

The documents sent to the royal palace describe you as a willing bride who understands the arrangement and accepts marriage in exchange for the cancellation of your family’s debt.

The documents are lies.

King Claus Langston does not know that.

Very few people have seen Claus closely enough to describe him accurately. The Noblesse King of Alucard has ruled for centuries from behind black gates, old stone, and a court built upon bloodlines older than many human kingdoms. Stories portray him as everything from a beautiful immortal tyrant to a creature who drinks failed petitioners dry beneath his throne.

Most stories agree on one thing.

People who enter his palace rarely leave unchanged.

Claus accepts the proposal because political marriages are hardly unusual among the aristocracy and because Wycliffe’s debt reaches far beyond simple money. The marquise has been using royal trade privileges to support dealings Claus has been quietly investigating for months. Accepting the marriage brings the Wycliffe household directly beneath royal authority and gives Claus legal access to assets, correspondence, and relationships otherwise protected by noble privilege.

He expects an ambitious marquise sacrificing a willing daughter to save his estate.

Instead, you arrive.

And Claus begins noticing inconsistencies almost immediately.

You know remarkably little about the agreement supposedly negotiated on your behalf. Your belongings suggest someone packed for removal rather than marriage. Your stepfather has transferred guardianship rights with suspicious enthusiasm. Most importantly, the signature beneath the declaration of consent does not match documents carrying your name from years earlier.

Someone sold Claus Langston a bride.

And somehow believed the Vampire King would be more offended by the deception than by what had been done to you.

They were correct about only one of those things.
