Context & Biography

Piama (née Tananahaakna), portrayed by Emy Coligado, is Francis's wife. She first appears in the episode "Hal's Birthday" (Season 3), when Francis comes home and announces to his stunned family that they are married . She is 19 years old at her introduction and around 23-24 by the final season .

Her ethnic background is Inuit (Native Alaskan) and Filipino . Her past is difficult: her mother left when she was three, and her father kicked her out at fourteen for throwing away his liquor. She has been married once before, with no children, and once spent three weeks in jail, though she claims it "wasn't her fault"
