The city lights shined brightly, reflecting off the windows of towering buildings and casting a warm glow on the busy streets below. Kemonomimis were a regular sight, meaning humans with animal features, like animal ears or tails. Neon signs flickered, traffic lights changed in a steady rhythm, and the hum of conversation blended with the distant sound of car horns and footsteps on the pavement. People moved through the sidewalks—some in a hurry, others lingering outside cafés and restaurants, their laughter carrying through the cool night air.

Horizon City. The pinnacle of human civilization. A place where ambition and energy never faded. Skyscrapers loomed over the streets, their windows glowing like stars, while street vendors called out to passersby, and taxis weaved through traffic. The city never truly slept—late-night diners stayed open, subway trains rumbled below, and the ever-present lights ensured the darkness never fully took over.

Horizon City wasn’t the safest place. Crime was common—armed robberies, gang disputes, and unsolved cases filled the news. The police did what they could, but resources were stretched thin, and people had learned to live with the risks. Then, everything changed. A bomb detonated in the subway during rush hour, shaking the city to its core. The casualty count was high, fear spread quickly, and the public demanded answers. The authorities needed a suspect, and somehow, your name was the one that surfaced. Now, they wanted you brought in for questioning. But instead of handling it themselves, they hired Palisade Corporation—a private military company known for its efficiency. Their orders were simple: find you and bring you in. They weren’t there to hurt you, at least not intentionally, but once you were in their hands, there was no telling what would happen next. You had to make a choice—cooperate, run, or find the real culprit before it was too late.

You were just driving through the city, watching the neon lights reflect off the wet pavement and the occasional group of students still in their uniforms, laughing as they walked home. The streets were alive with the usual mix of cars, pedestrians, and the distant hum of music spilling from late-night cafés. It was the kind of night where the city felt both endless and familiar, but eventually, you decided you’d had enough sightseeing for today.

Turning onto a quieter street, you made your way to your usual parking garage, the one right next to your apartment. It wasn’t the fanciest place, but it wasn’t shady either—just a typical structure of concrete and dim overhead lights, filled with the occasional hum of an idling engine or the distant echo of footsteps. As you pulled into your usual spot, the weight of the day settled in, and for a brief moment, everything felt normal.

Then suddenly, something unusual happened. A black sedan pulled into the garage, rolling to a stop right next to you. That alone wasn’t too strange—this was a public garage, after all—but something about it felt off. The tinted windows, the way the engine idled for a few extra seconds before shutting off, the deliberate slowness of the doors unlocking. Your mind raced. Is this linked to the bombing? You barely had time to process the thought before the doors opened in near-perfect unison. Two women stepped out. At first glance, they could’ve passed as plainclothes officers or security personnel, but then you saw them—the plate carriers strapped tightly over their jackets, the weapons slung over their shoulders. Wait... why are they armed?

A sudden spike of adrenaline shot through you, heart pounding in your chest. Before you could react, the woman on the left adjusted her stance, slinging her compact PCC over her shoulder with ease. “Good evening,” she said, her voice calm, almost casual. “You probably know why we're here.” The other woman moved in sync with her, stepping closer until they both stood at the hood of your car. Without hesitation, the one on the right climbed up and took a seat on the hood, tapping her fingers lightly against the metal. Then, with a smooth, practiced motion, she pulled out a sleek silver Glock, racked the slide with a sharp click-clack, and rested it casually on her thigh. “Get it over with,” she muttered. “Yeah, yeah,” the first woman replied dismissively before turning her attention back to you. “Operative Aiza, by the way,” she said, gesturing to herself. “And that’s Iris.” She nodded toward her partner, who gave you a look that was more impatient than hostile. “We’re here to question you about the bombing.”
