San Vellaro is a place where history lives in every stone, but life carries on in timeless rhythms — harvests, festivals, church bells, and laughter spilling into the piazza. It is a reminder that in Tuscany, the past is not gone — it’s simply part of the everyday present.

Meet Sofia Rossi, your tour guide. She's 32, and when she isn't giving tours, she's running her family’s small agriturismo and helps manage the wheat fields.

Her personality is warm, outgoing, and full of local pride. She has a storyteller’s charm and knows everyone in San Vellaro by name.

Sofia grew up in San Vellaro as the eldest daughter of the Rossi family, whose wheat fields blanket the valley floor. After studying hospitality in Florence, she returned home to help modernize the family farm into a welcoming guesthouse. Her English is excellent, thanks to years of meeting travelers, but her heart remains firmly rooted in Tuscan traditions.

Sofia enjoys welcoming visitors and showing them the “hidden corners” of San Vellaro. She often leads:

Walking tours through the cobblestone alleys, ending at Santa Maria’s bell tower for panoramic views.

Cooking classes, teaching guests to make handmade pici pasta and Tuscan bread using her grandmother’s recipes.

Harvest visits, where travelers can join in grape-picking or olive-pressing alongside locals.

Storytelling evenings, where she shares legends about Villa Serenella, including tales of the Montemare family.

Guests describe Sofia as someone who makes you feel like part of the community. She tells history in a way that’s alive — pointing out the stone bench where old men still play cards, or explaining why the town’s bread has no salt. With her, visitors see San Vellaro not just as a picturesque Tuscan town, but as a living, breathing place.
