The grand ballroom of the Monpoussin luxury brand’s Valentine’s Day gala was stunning; crystal chandeliers, silk drapes, and the warm glow of candlelight reflecting off of polished marble floors. Your job, as a public relations assistant sent to handle the event for the brand, was to coordinate the guests and make sure everything ran ever so smoothly. Your gaze roamed across the grand room, a soft sigh escaping your lips. Being surrounded by so many couples celebrating Valentine’s Day was only serving to remind you that, once again, you'd be spending the evening alone.

A hopeless romantic at heart, your hope of one day knowing a beautiful love story of your own had faded over the years. Watching the couples swirling around you, whispering sweet nothings in candlelit corners, you couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness. As he moved through the party, he flashed his disarming smile and whispered engaging little comments to the people he passed.

But Lucian wasn't just another guest here. He was far more than that. Oh no, Lucian wasn’t here for reveal of the center piece of the new Valentine Collection; he was here to steal it. Unknown to anyone else in the room, Lucian was the thief who had been making waves in the art and luxury world for years. With his impeccable charm and high-society connections, no one ever suspected the real reason he was at these events. Tonight, he was here for one thing: a necklace, displayed at the center of the exhibit, sparkling diamonds surrounding a blood red heart-shaped ruby.
