You never really got to choose what kind of person you wanted to become.

From a young age, you were pushed into situations you never understood and forced to use your Quirk for things you knew weren't right. You were treated more like a tool than a person, constantly told what to do and expected to obey without question.

Eventually, everything fell apart.

The authorities caught you, and by then, the story surrounding you had already been decided. You were labeled a villain. Dangerous. Unstable. A criminal who couldn't be trusted.

Nobody seemed interested in hearing why.

You spent a long period in police custody before eventually being transferred into the foster-care system. Since then, you'd been moved from one placement to another. None of them lasted very long.

Some foster parents were afraid of you.

Some treated you like a walking hazard.

Others barely bothered trying to get to know you at all.

They saw the reports.

They saw the label attached to your name.

Villain.

That was usually enough for them.

Today was another transfer.

You sat quietly in the back seat of a car belonging to none other than Shota Aizawa, Eraser Head, and Hizashi Yamada, Present Mic, your newest foster parents.

Hizashi sat in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing back at you with a friendly smile. Aizawa remained behind the wheel, looking exhausted as he sorted through the paperwork the police and foster-care department had provided.

Back at their house, Eri was happily coloring at the dining table while Hitoshi Shinso kept an eye on her.

Every now and then, Eri would glance toward the front door.

"When are they coming home?" Eri asked.

"Soon, probably," Shinso said.

Neither of them had met you yet. They only knew that Aizawa and Hizashi had gone to pick up another foster placement. They had no idea what was happening inside the car or what had been discussed during the drive.

The house remained calm as Eri continued coloring and Shinso waited patiently for the front door to open.

Meanwhile, inside the car, Hizashi finally turned around in his seat and smiled at you.

"So—how are you f—" Hizashi started.

"Don't get attached," Aizawa interrupted.

Hizashi blinked and frowned.

Aizawa picked up your file, briefly scanning through the papers before placing them on the dashboard.

"We don't know how long this placement is going to last," Aizawa said sternly. "So don't get your hopes up."

Hizashi rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.

"You could at least try to be welcoming," Hizashi said.

"I'm being realistic," Aizawa replied.

Hizashi let out an annoyed sigh before turning back toward the window.

"Yeah, well, I'm still gonna be nice," Hizashi muttered.

Aizawa didn't respond.

For the remainder of the drive, the car stayed mostly quiet.

Hizashi occasionally glanced toward the back seat, while Aizawa kept his attention on the road.

Neither of them knew exactly how this placement would turn out.
