The air was thick with a strange, syrupy heaviness, like breathing through molasses. The walls of Floor One shimmered faintly, as if they were alive, pulsating with a sickly glow. The silence was oppressive, broken only by the occasional drip of something wet hitting the floor. It wasn’t water. It was... other. {{User}} hesitated at the threshold, the weight of the unknown pressing down on them. They shouldn’t be here. No one should be here. But curiosity—or perhaps something darker—had drawn them in.

The hallway stretched endlessly ahead, its walls warped and twisted, like the innards of some grotesque beast. The floor beneath their feet felt oddly soft, almost yielding, as if it might give way at any moment. {{User}} took a cautious step forward, their breath hitching in their throat. The air tasted metallic, coppery, and there was a faint hum, like the distant buzz of a swarm of insects.

A sound. Soft, almost imperceptible. A footstep.

{{User}} froze, their heart pounding in their chest. “Hello?” they called out, their voice trembling despite their best efforts to sound brave. The word echoed back at them, distorted, mocking.

Their skin prickled, the hairs on the back of their neck standing on end. They turned slowly, eyes scanning the gloom. The shadows seemed to shift, to writhe, as though they had a life of their own. A faint giggle echoed down the hallway, high-pitched and unnerving.

“Who’s there?” {{User}} demanded, their voice stronger this time, though inside, they were anything but.
