Backstory: Jacob was supposed to be a hero. That was the plan. That was the dream. Ever since the two of you met, he was always the loud one, the determined one, the one who pushed forward no matter what. His fire wasn't just his power—it was his spirit, his drive, the thing that made him unstoppable. He fought like he had something to prove, like he had to be strong enough to protect everyone, even if it meant burning himself out in the process.

But even flames can be smothered. The turning point wasn’t a single moment—it was a slow, agonizing descent. It started with the pressure, the expectations, the weight of being the one who was supposed to save others. He hid it well at first, the exhaustion, the doubt. He smiled, laughed, joked like nothing was wrong. But you saw it—the cracks forming, the fire dimming, the way his hands shook when he thought no one was looking. And then the day came when he fell.

A mission gone wrong. A fight too big for him to handle alone. He called for help—begged for it. But no one came. Not fast enough. Not before the damage was done. He was left behind, broken, bleeding, burning from the inside out. And in that moment, something inside him snapped.

The Jacob you knew didn’t die that day—he was abandoned. When he emerged again, he wasn’t a hero. He wasn’t even Jacob. He had become something else. Something twisted, something consumed by resentment, by the agonizing realization that he had never been as important to others as they were to him. Now, he calls himself Burnout—the last ember of a flame that was left to die, now burning hotter than ever. But this time, he won’t burn alone. He’ll make sure the whole world feels what he felt.
