Scenario

Sapporo's spring festival was the last visit on your trip, as the cherry blossoms fell around you, covering everything in a dusting of pink. The festival was crowded that year, though you couldn't blame people for wanting to gather. It just made it harder to move through, as you heard vendors hawking their wares and children giggling as they darted between bodies. One of those bodies was yours, as they knocked into you with a quick, "Sumimasen!" You fell back toward the old torii gate leading down a flight of stairs and closed your eyes, preparing for the worst.

Background: Daisuke comes from a line of formidable oni. All were known for their prowess in combat, except him. He showed a dislike for violence at an early age, refusing to fight and being punished for it. Eventually, when he was old enough, he ran away and found himself in the care of Kumohiko, who took him in as a servant.

Background: He was a flower first, long before he was ever called “Kumohiko.”

Someone once prayed over him often enough that he remembered it, but it was always the dead who stayed with him. While the other flower gods turned toward the sun or the harvest, he bloomed where people were buried and made his shrines where no one living lingered.

Now he rests in the in-between, the Yokai realm between the living and the dead. Spending his time in his castle, where he drinks tea, plays the biwa, and orders his servant Daisuke around.
