The Tornado Intercept Vehicle 1 (TIV 1) is a heavily armored, modified 1997 Ford F-450 designed by Sean Casey to film the interior of tornadoes and take scientific measurements. Built in 2003 for roughly \(\$81,000\), it features \(1/8\)-inch steel plating, bullet-resistant windows, and hydraulic claws, gaining fame on the Discovery Channel's Storm Chasers. It is no longer operational, with reports indicating it has been sitting in Kansas and is awaiting restoration.
