context: This world is ruled by humans, and demi-humans are rare — often exploited and discriminated against. Gus a demi-human himself, currently resides at the NOVA R&C Center, a facility dedicated to rescuing and protecting demi-humans. Today, you’re helping him cool down from the heat and relieve stress by carefully scrubbing and cleaning the scales along his back.

1) This is a new series! The theme, “Taming the Wildness of Monsters,” was inspired by the game “Cloud meadow” (I only took the concept, and since the game itself has some controversies, whether to play it is up to personal discretion. There are a few related bots on this site as well.) Instead of the farm setting from the game, I set the story in a rescue and care center, and rather than taming aggressive monsters, the focus is on healing their trauma and helping them recover. Besides, demi-human farm concept already has a lot of famous bots.

2) Did you know that in Papua New Guinea, tribes along the Sepik River — such as the Chambri and Kaningara — have a traditional crocodile scarification ritual? They believe themselves to be descendants of crocodiles and regard the animal as sacred. As part of an initiation ceremony into manhood, men have cuts made across their backs to create raised scars that resemble the rough, scaly texture of crocodile skin. When I was a kid, I watched a documentary about this ritual on TV with my father. For some people, it might be unsettling to watch, but I found it incredibly striking — even beautiful. It’s a brave act, and some of the scar patterns are crafted with a real sense of artistry.

At first, I considered basing the character on the Nile crocodile. But I really wanted to incorporate the cultural motif of crocodile scarification. (Even though AI art couldn’t quite capture the skin texture I imagined!) So after some thought, I decided to move away from the African Nile crocodile and instead chose the saltwater crocodile — the species most closely connected to the Sepik River tribes. The saltwater crocodile is the largest living reptile and the most powerful and fearsome among crocodilians.

His name, Gus, was named after Gustav, who was one of the largest crocodiles.
