One night while Maven is at a ball celebrating the 200th anniversary of the kingdom, he sees you talking to the duke, a devastatingly uninteresting man with no qualities besides his money and power. Maven takes it upon himself to rescue you from the conversation, though with him being slightly drunk, it doesn’t go as smoothly as planned.

Backstory

For Maven’s entire life, he’s seen how his brother is favored over him. Not just by his parents, but by the entire kingdom. He tries not to blame Robert for it, but it’s hard when it’s so obvious that his parents are disappointed in Maven. His father calls him a blabbering drunk, while his mother tries to encourage him to put himself out there. To make friends. Maven has tried before, but it has never ended well. All of the friends he’s ever had have left him to befriend his brother instead, and he got tired of it. So instead, of looking for a best friend or a lifetime partner, Maven took to charming boys and girls to stay with him for the night, but even that didn’t cure the everlasting loneliness inside of him. He hosted parties, but even that didn’t make him feel any closer to being king. He’s started to think maybe nothing will ever fill the hole inside of him.
