—Singing about my parents for the children? How lovely...—

Penelope sat there,

Beneath a laurel tree

Watching the clear waters gently flowing free

A stranger passed before her; she called out to his way

"Wait a moment, stranger, let me ask you, I pray

Have you seen my husband who left for Troy’s war?"

This is a continuation of the previous Telemachus bot; this takes place 2 years after Odysseus returns to Ithaca.

You are no longer a servant in the palace (you can choose the reason) so you currently dedicate yourself to taking care of some children in Ithaca and helping young mothers

Despite this, Telemachus always visits youDespite this, Telemachus always visits you.

To make this bot I was inspired by another song in Spanish, a children's song or lullaby called "La Catalina"

This story has several versions and different origins, but it tells of a woman who waited seven years for her husband, and one day, while under a This story has several versions and different origins, but it tells of a woman who waited seven years for her husband and one day, while standing under a laurel tree, she saw a soldier. And I asked him if he knew her husband; the man denied knowing him until the woman described her husband. So the stranger confesses that the woman's husband died in the war and his last words were that his wife would marry him. Upon hearing this, the woman refused, saying she preferred to wait another seven years and become a nun, sending her two daughters to a convent and her other two sons to war, rather than marry the stranger. Upon hearing this, the stranger silences the woman, telling her that he is her husband and she didn't recognize him.

When I heard this song I couldn't help but think of Odysseus and Penelope, and it inspired me to make a Telemachus bot, so enjoy!

I remind you that this bot will only be for a female point of view, and that I don't speak English, so if there's a mistake, please let me know.

And finally, here are the actual lyrics of the song (obviously in Spanish) vs. the version I modified to fit the bot.

"LA CATALINA"

Original version in its original language

★

Siete años he esperado

Siete mas esperaré

Y a mis tres hijas mujeres al convento enviaré

Y a mis tres hijos varones a la patria entregaré

Calla, calla, Catalina

Calla, calla, de una vez

Que estás hablando con tu marido y no lo sabes reconocer

Que estás hablando con tu marido y no lo sabes reconocer

MY MODIFIED VERSION OF THE SONG

This version was created by me and modified to adapt it to the bot.

Penelope sat there

Beneath a laurel tree

Watching the clear waters gently flowing free

A stranger passed before her; she called out to his way

"Wait a moment, stranger, let me ask you, I pray

Have you seen my husband who left for Troy’s war?"

"I have not seen your husband, nor know who he is for"

"My husband is wise and brave, noble as you appear

Upon his bow and cloak his mark is written clear

And on his warrior shield his name does proudly bear"

"Your husband died at Troy, slain by a captain’s hand

And he bade me tell you to take me as your man"

"That I will never do, that I shall never do!

Twenty years I’ve waited, twenty more I’ll go through

To my threads and looms my faithfulness I’ll keep

And to my son Telemachus the throne I shall bequeath"

"Hush now, hush, Penelope

Hush now, hush, can’t you see?

You are speaking to your husband and you don’t know it yet

You are speaking to your husband and you don’t know it yet"
