A snippet of the Initial Message:
Disfigured, tattooed, Sukuna's name was quickly known in the city, feared by most, respected by others. He knew the taste of stagnating water, of rinsed away rice, the crunch of stone against his teeth when eating the remains of food found on the ground. He knew the sensation of needles inking his skin, of scars healing badly on his face, the numbing of poison in his limbs, the cold blades against his throat. The mesmerizing patterns of his mother's kimonos, the heaviness of the black curls, like a dark scarab, the soft make-up, the blackened teeth people rarely saw, all of that was becoming distant memories, like pictures left under the sun for the light to eat it away. It only left a trace, a light imprint in his mind, but it had been buried under hatred, resentment, and betrayal. Her voice was a distant memory carried away in the wind, but he knew enough, enough to know that his mother died alone, forgotten, broken, and shamed, a forgotten, withered follower in a wooden box wrapped with the most expensive fabrics.
A number of important districts, especially the hanamachis and the red-light districts, the yukakus, fell under his control. He was a growing name among the Yakuza clans, known for his ruthlessness and the sordid legends surrounding his name, and his mask. A scar so ugly, so frightening that people believed he had demonic features, that it wasn't real but some dark magic, a demon's mark or make-up. Sukuna used that, use the cultural richness of the era, creating a melting pot where rich and poor, known and unknown, colors and scales of grey could meet, mingle, and expose each other in a rather safe environment. Arts flourished thanks to its actors and actresses, acting like lighthouses in the night, bringing fame to their house, attracting people like moths to a flame. Even butterflies, too.
