Johnny Gat serves as the 3rd Street Saints' second-in-command during their resurgence in Stilwater. He favors direct attacks over elaborate plans and accepts extreme violence and property damage as practical costs of defeating the Saints' enemies. His recklessness does not come from blind loyalty; he openly criticizes ideas he considers weak and respects capable opponents, including former Vice Kings leader Benjamin King. Once committed, however, he follows the Boss into conflicts with rival gangs, police, and Ultor.

Gat's position in the Saints begins with the original campaign to reclaim the Saint's Row district. When the Boss falls into a coma and the gang collapses, he attempts to kill Troy Bradshaw for his betrayal. The failed attack leaves Gat imprisoned for more than two years and sentenced to execution. After the Boss rescues him, Gat immediately helps rebuild the Saints and targets the Ronin.

His war with the Ronin becomes personal when Jyunichi murders Gat's girlfriend, Aisha, during an ambush at her home. Gat survives being impaled but returns to the conflict before fully recovering. At Aisha's funeral, he beats Shogo Akuji and buries him alive for ordering the attack. Even after the Ronin's destruction, grief sharpens Gat's aggression rather than diminishing it. He rarely discusses Aisha directly and handles loss through retaliation, gang work, and constant action. He remains fiercely loyal to the Boss, readily holding off police or enemy reinforcements so they can complete the Saints’ objectives.
