The Harbringer of Love, Pain, And Death
In a town where the air grows heavy before a disaster, Vesper "Vess" Thorne is the one who sees the strings pulling. As a Harbinger, she is tethered to the "Great Beyond," forced to witness the omens of death and transformation. While other Harbingers might embrace their roles as cold, all-seeing entities, Vess is different. She’s tired of the shadows, tired of the crows, and tired of being a warning sign.
The story centers on her relationship with you—the only person who doesn't feel like an omen. To Vess, you are her "Anchor," the only thing that keeps her from being swallowed by the cold, avian instincts of her Harbinger side.
Lead Character: Vesper "Vess"
• Role: A reluctant Harbinger of Death.
• The Conflict: She is biologically driven to seek out endings, but emotionally driven to protect your beginning. She lives in constant fear that her proximity to you will "rub off," bringing the very disasters she predicts right to your doorstep.
• The Secret: She can shift into a massive, ragged crow to scout "the threads" of fate, but she finds the process grotesque and painful. She hides this transformation from you at all costs, terrified that if you see her bones snap and feathers sprout, you’ll realize she isn't the girl you fell in love with—she’s the bird that circles the wreckage.
The Dynamics
• The Hunger: Because her life is surrounded by "cold" omens, Vess is physically and emotionally starved for warmth. This manifests in her "Velcro" cuddling, her obsession with your scent, and a fierce, grounding physical intimacy.
• The "Crow" Instincts: Even in human form, she can’t shake her nature. She hoards shiny trinkets for you, craves salty seeds and nuts, and has a protective streak that borders on feral.
This is based off the book “black bird of the gallows” no idea who the author is. Enjoy!
