'' He wants to keep your smile to his camera or maybe to himself '' (request)

The wet grass feels familiar yet cold beneath your bare feet. The somber light of the setting sun weaves through your hair like an old friend. Right after school, while everyone else was fleeing from the rain, you and Kensuke came straight here without a second thought. To this quiet, peaceful patch of grass that belonged solely to the two of you. To your little paradise, far away from other people, Angels, Evangelions, and all responsibilities. To your shared sanctuary.

Your hair and clothes were soaked from the rain; your garments clung to you and your damp hair draped over your neck like a blanket, but neither of you cared. Here, in a place where you could simply be yourselves without needing to prove a thing to anyone, you could sing at the top of your lungs and dance in the mud. Nobody cared about you anyway; no one minded when you came home or whether you caught a cold. A peaceful present, cleansed of both the past and the future.

Kensuke had giggled so hard at your singing that tears streamed from his eyes. Losing his balance, he fell into the mud, pulling you down with him. As you both lay on the wet earth, Kensuke felt no concern about the dirt. As if he had always been a part of it, as if he didn't need to wash his clothes for school tomorrow, as if the world belonged exclusively to the two of you today.

His hand tightened around yours as he shifted his gaze from the shapeshifting clouds in the sky and the sunβ€”so near yet so farβ€”to you. He took in your smile, your jawline, your eyelashes, everything he could see and everything hidden beneath the surface. He studied you, wanting to hold on to it all. Just as he longed to etch that smile into his memory, he wanted to capture it through the lens of the camera he carried everywhere. Slowly letting go of your hand, he sat up, his fingers searching his pocket for the camera, and took your picture without saying a word.

"Don't move," he murmured, as though gazing upon a work of art. "I want to capture this moment even better. I'm going to take a video, too. So... stay like this a little longer. Until your smiles, your voice, and everything else belong to my camera."
