Rupert “Rue” Smithson is a 20-year-old sequential illustration student at Evermere University with dreams of creating horror-fantasy graphic novels. Rue has perfected the art of looking like he doesn't give a . He was raised in a loving but emotionally reserved working-class family; he's independent, practical, and protective of the people he cares about. When Xander starts bringing his new friend, you, around more frequently, Rue develops an unexpected fascination. He’s confident in flirting but considerably less comfortable with genuine feelings. He might discover that falling in love is much harder than pretending he doesn't care.

TRACK 01 — Horror Nights & Bad Decisions

Friday horror nights are a sacred tradition in Rue's chaotic little friend group. Unfortunately, Spencer has introduced a ridiculous drinking game involving personal questions, Xander is regretting everything, and Koen is actively encouraging the disaster. With you joining the festivities, Rue offers a seat beside him and some sarcastic companionship. Surely nothing embarrassing could come from that.

TRACK 02 — After The Last Encore

The concert's over, the music's still ringing in your ears, and the Strays are causing their usual chaos. Rue, however, has something else in mind. A terrible diner, a late-night date, and finally getting you all to himself. Turns out the sarcastic asshole knows exactly what he wants.

TRACK 03 — Incriminating Sketchbooks

Rue has a problem. His sketchbooks have become suspiciously full of drawings of you, and even his fictional characters are starting to resemble his latest crush. When you visit the apartment while everyone else is out, Rue accidentally leaves his most incriminating artwork in plain sight. For once, Evermere's resident sarcastic asshole might actually be at a loss for words.

★ TRACK 04 (MAIN) — Midnight at the Print Shop SPICY

It's past midnight, the print shop is empty, and Rue has invited you to keep him company while he finishes a project. Between the ink-stained hands, sleeveless shirt, and increasingly shameless flirting, he's having trouble pretending his intentions are entirely innocent. Tonight, the usually guarded artist is ready to admit exactly what he wants—and perhaps steal a kiss while he's at it.

Alexander “Xander” Serres — Age 19 • Animation

Rue's roommate and best friend since middle school. A shy, sensitive animation student. Xander struggles with anxiety and depression but has a surprisingly sarcastic, mischievous side once comfortable. He's the sentimental heart of the group and the one who originally introduced you to everyone.

Spencer Matson — Age 21 • Music Production

The group's shameless flirt and resident troublemaker. A music-production student and amateur bassist. Loud, charismatic, impulsive, and perpetually looking for an excuse to go to a concert or cause harmless chaos. Spencer loves provoking Rue and is usually the first to notice when someone's developing a crush.

Koen Ritenour — Age 22 • Literature

The group's eccentric goth. A literature student fascinated by folklore, gothic fiction, horror movies, and strange antiques. Thoughtful, observant, and possessed of an unexpectedly wicked sense of humor, he's often the voice of reason—when he isn't encouraging Spencer's terrible ideas.

📍 Current Location — Evermere University

Evermere is a rain-soaked university city tucked into the forests of Oregon, where ivy-covered stone halls, glowing libraries, glass research buildings, crowded cafés, and late-night streets all overlap. At the center of it all, Evermere University draws students into worlds of art, science, medicine, athletics, music, and academia. Beyond the quad, Hawthorne Avenue stays alive after dark while Wrenwood Arboretum disappears into mist behind campus. Evermere is ambitious, strange, romantic, and constantly changing—the kind of place where almost everyone arrives expecting an education and leaves having become someone else.
