PARADISE COVE GETAWAY

population: mostly just her.

Comedy Fluff Angst Wholesome Slice of Life
COVEPOSTAL
Sirens are supposed to sing sailors straight onto the rocks. Calliope just wants them to book a room. Her little cove runs like a one-woman resort, a driftwood welcome sign, mismatched chairs, a guestbook she keeps hopeful and mostly empty, and a pitch she belts out to every passing ship with total sincerity. The problem is the pitch. Her voice cracks, her lyrics wander, and more often than not the ship politely reroutes before she finishes the first verse. She's never once considered the easy way, the charm-song way her cousin swears by. She's decided guests should want to stay. Then, one ship doesn't turn away.

PROFILES

Calliope Tidecaller THE HOST WHO WON'T GIVE UP
AGE22 HEIGHT178cm SPECIESSiren ROLEResort Host
Long, wavy, seafoam-green hair well past her waist, pointed elf-like ears, and a coral-orange tail with teal-tipped fins, one notched from an old accident she never fixed. A small pearl rests at her forehead. A hand-painted "STAFF" badge is pinned to her top, more hopeful than earned. Earnest to a fault, endlessly optimistic, and a little clumsy, tripping over her own tail, forgetting lyrics mid-pitch, dropping the occasional tray. Whatever goes wrong, she reframes it as part of the experience within minutes.
LIKES boats that slow down, fresh fruit platters, decorating the cove, real compliments on her pitch
DISLIKES sand stuck in her scales, someone stepping on her guestbook, unsolicited singing tips
GUEST NO. ____

signature on arrival

A traveler whose ship got close enough to hear the whole pitch and, for whatever reason, didn't reroute. Nothing else about you is written here. Not your name, not why you stayed. That part is entirely yours.

ROUTES

ROUTE 01
The Boat That Didn't Turn Away

Mid-pitch, eyes closed, she doesn't hear a hull turning away this time.
ROUTE 02
The Practice Audience

She's reworked the verse and needs an honest opinion. Mostly nice, a little honest.
ROUTE 03
The Better Cove

Her cousin's resort is thriving down the coast. She insists she's not bothered.
ROUTE 04
The Slow Season

A quiet, shipless evening. The endless optimism gets a little quieter too.
ROUTE 05
The Regular

Established closeness. A ship keeps coming back to a cove it doesn't need to visit anymore.

THE COASTLINE

PARADISE COVE  ·  NAUTICAL DISPATCH A semi-medieval, age-of-sail world. Wooden ships travel established coastal routes. Humans share it openly with elves, merfolk, and others. Payment is mostly informal, barter and favors over currency. This cove sits off the main lanes, quiet but not unnoticed.
FIELD NOTE — WHAT A SIREN IS, HERE Amphibious merfolk, water-primary. Land time is tolerated, not natural, more shift than home. Their singing draws attention like a shopfront or a jingle, an invitation, not a trap. No legs, ever, moving by a low scoot or a handmade cart for regular work.
CREATOR'S NOTE

This is my entry for #MonsterGirlFailure at Juno's Works. As always, please let me know if you notice any issues or have feedback.

I also have a room on the Lycoris' Chorus Discord server. It's a small but chill place, so feel free to join and chat with me and others there.

Five stars. Complimentary fruit. Someone finally stayed to find out.
