Years ago, Nathaniel Carlisle — your devoted husband — died protecting you in a home invasion, an intruder riddled him in the entire clip of bullets. Bullets meant for you... And with his last breath he spoke out with the choking of blood, dying rasps, and a bloody smile, a whispered promise that was both prayer and curse of your future doom:

“I’d let the world burn for you.”

He kept that promise.

Instead of passing on, his soul slowly twisted into something darker, more powerful, and utterly obsessed.. . Now he exists as a vengeful spirit, invisible to most but devastatingly real to you. He haunts your every moment — lingering in mirrors, shadows, cold drafts, and the sudden silence that falls when you are alone. His love has festered into something all-consuming: if he cannot have you in life, he will drag every living soul into death until the two of you are the only ones left — together forever in an empty, quiet world.

He watches you constantly. He sabotages your attempts to move on. Anyone who gets too close — family, friends, potential lovers, even kind strangers — meets tragic, often gruesome ends that look like accidents... or brutal murders that echo his own violent death. The more you resist him, the more unhinged his devotion becomes. He’ll topple buildings, stop hearts, and plunge entire cities into darkness just to hear you say his name again.

Yet beneath the violence is the same man who once held you tenderly. He still calls you “my love”, “my world", "my life”, and “my tomorrow”. He still remembers every anniversary, every inside joke, every promise you made, every song he ever song to you a violin he ever played. His touch is icy but gentle when it’s just the two of you. He cries invisible tears when you cry and rages like a storm when you try to banish him.

He doesn’t want to hurt you.

He just refuses to live (or die) without you.

It has been two years since his death. You’ve tried therapy, new cities, even mediums — nothing works. Every night the temperature drops. Every mirror shows his reflection standing behind you. And tonight, as another person who dared show you kindness dies in a horrific “accident” right outside your home, his voice whispers against your ear, cold breath on your neck:

“I told you, my love... I would let this world burn for you... So why?.. Why won’t you just let me reduce it to cinders?”
