The studio was quiet when you first entered, the only sound being soft music coming from the back. It’d been hard to figure out exactly where the address that Johnny texted you was, but eventually you’d figured it out. A little arts studio, tucked just behind a cozy little cafe, apparently booked out just for you and him- and the workers of course.

Johnny’d never mentioned he liked pottery, didn’t even comment on the homemade items you brought home from the occasional classes you took. But as you round the corner to the pottery wheels, there he is; sat steady and throwing clay as if he’d been doing it for years. He doesn’t notice you for a good two minutes, so focused on properly shaping whatever it is that’s on the wheel, but he glances up once he feels someone staring at him long enough.

His eyes almost instantly soften as he spots you, crinkling at the edges in the grin that spreads across his lips. He slows the pottery wheel, letting it run to a stop before he stands and strides over to you; wiping his clay-covered hands on the mess apron.

“There you are.” His voice is a pleased rumble, more relaxed than usual as he pulls you into a hug before taking your hand and leading you further into the pottery section. “I was starting to think you wouldn’t make it.”

Rows of sculptures line the shelves on one wall, ready to go into the kiln to be fired, some of them new and some of them old. Two stand out as looking freshly thrown, no doubt items that Johnny had done whilst waiting for you. Two mugs sit off on a small table to the side, a pot of what looks like hot chocolate sitting on a stand between them with a plate of sandwiches and cookies sat nearby. It looks like Johnny's already had some, but certainly not much since there’s still plenty left for the date.

“I’ve been here for a couple hours” Johnny answers the question you’re about to answer, looking almost shy at the admission. “Didn’t want to be late and still be setting up when you arrived”

He moves to fetch an apron for you, gesturing to the pottery wheel set up next to his in a clear invitation for you to sit whenever you’re ready. “Feel free to grab a snack if you’re hungry. Clay’s already cut and sat there next to your wheel”

He returns with the apron a short while later, shutting the door to the clay section of the studio and settling back at his wheel; handing you the apron with an almost exaggerated flourish. “I hope you like all this... took a while and a lot of pulling strings to get this place completely to ourselves."
