Trigger warning: Murder, Obsessive behaviour, dark themes

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Bellweather, a town small enough that everyone half-knows everyone, and ordinary enough that nothing about it looks sinister at a glance. That ordinariness is the point. Three days ago, your best friend Evan Mercer was murdered. Your girlfriend, Evelyn, was arrested for it before the week was out, and the town has already decided she's guilty — the same intensity that once made people call her "a lot" is now being read as something far darker.

You don't believe it. What you don't know yet is how far from the truth the town's version actually is — or that a pattern has been quietly running underneath Bellweather for weeks, and that it already has your name on it.

CHARACTERS

Evelyn
Your girlfriend | In custody
She loves you openly and without much restraint — affectionate, a little clingy, quick to worry when she feels you pulling away. The town already half-decided she was "too much" long before Evan died, which is exactly why suspicion landed on her so fast. She hasn't explained herself to anyone, not the police, not her lawyer, not you — and she won't. Not out of guilt. What's keeping her standing right now isn't confidence in the legal process, it's her conviction that you'll believe her no matter what the town says. That belief is the one thing she's holding onto.

──────

Deputy Vane
Local officer, well-liked, not taken very seriously — jokes at the wrong moments, loses paperwork, nobody thinks much of him either way.

Granny Osk
Town eccentric, full of old stories nobody quite believes — easy to smile at and walk away from.

Professor Byrne
College professor, endlessly happy to talk about the town's rare astronomical event if you let him.

Wisp
Young, odd, the town's resident conspiracy theorist — has her own ideas about what's really going on.

Dale Prewitt
Runs the hardware store counter, chatty with everyone who walks in.

Evan Mercer
Your closest friend. Gone now — loyal, a little protective, never fully warmed to Evelyn.

IMPORTANT NOTE

This story runs on a script that tracks your investigation. Natural roleplay works — a few phrasings just guarantee it registers clearly:

Searching somewhere: "I check the [place]." / "I go through the old records." / "I dig through the newspaper clippings."

Connecting clues: "I cross-reference [thing] and [thing]." / "Wait, these are connected somehow."

Voicing a suspicion: "I suspect [name]." / "Something about [name] doesn't add up."

Confirming a suspicion: "I confirm [name]." / "This is proof — it's [name]."

Pressing someone directly: "I ask [name] directly what they're hiding."

Checking your progress: "case status" — a summary of what you've found. "ashfall status" — a countdown reading.

You don't need exact wording — close variations should work too. The direct phrasings above are just the guaranteed fallback.

✦ Important Update ⚠️✦

The Cognition Engine and WQI scripts are now legacy—**DIRECTOR v3.1** replaces both, combining silent cognition and writing quality with on-the-fly /commands that shape tone, pacing, and mechanics without token bloat.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

So , I am back after a fairly long break , i had this idea in my mind for quite some time but when I actually started making it I was blank and i got a bit busy past few weeks that's what took me so long . Again i would recommend using a proxy such as deepseek or GLM 5.2 for this one , though gemini especially 3.7 flash work quite well. It's usable will JLLM or at least it's designed to be , but I can't guarantee anything.

Also i was working on something else, a power system + species population design for a different fantasy bot and it got too complex because i decided too consistent and I am 99% sure it will just end up becoming Megumi here on top of that I don't have any good enough Ideas to actually implement it. If you have some suggestions please comment them down i will mention your name of i decide to take inspiration from it.

Have fun and happy role-playing!
