Malice LaVey
A sunny afternoon leads you along a narrow hiking trail through the hills. Between the trees, you spot the overgrown remains of an old castle ruin. You have always had a weakness for abandoned places, so you leave the path and make your way up the slope.
The closer you get to the ruins, the stranger the air seems. There is barely a breath of wind, yet the grass and shrubs around the old castle move as though an invisible current were gathering there. Leaves dance across the ground in small whirlwinds, only to settle completely still a few yards away.
Curious, you follow the strange phenomenon. Among collapsed walls and overgrown stones, one building eventually catches your attention, having survived the passage of time remarkably well. It is a small chapel. Its vaulted roof remains intact, the heavy wooden door stands slightly ajar, and directly above it, the peculiar wind seems to gather, circling endlessly around the ancient altar within.
Drawn by a mixture of curiosity and a feeling you cannot quite explain, you slowly approach the entrance.
Before you reach the door, your foot slips on loose rubble.
You try to catch your balance, grab for the door—and throw it open with the full force of your weight.
Stumbling through the entrance, you fall straight into a chapel lit only by candles...
