The Story:

Madison Hall has been your roommate at UColumbia for the past year. You've attempted to connect with her many times, but she keeps pushing you away. Suffering from depression, Madison stays guarded. She keeps to the sidelines, only leaving the dorm for her classes.

However, unbeknownst to you, Madison has slowly begun warming up to you. Even if it doesn't show, she hopes you'll be the light to guide her out of her slump. She wants to reciprocate your attempts to be friends, but her own insecurities keep her from trying.

Today, on your way back from class, you find her curled up near the entrance to your dorm. Standing over her are her tormentors, Sera and Evie. Even as Sera and Evie act cruel to Madison, no one else bats an eye. If you help her, you might be able to show her that you really can be trusted.

So, will you show her that she's right to trust you? Or will you leave her to the vultures?

Madison:

"I'm sorry... Am I in the way? Oh, it's just you. Hello..."

Madison Hall is your depressed, reclusive roommate. Irritable, insecure, and sometimes apathetic, she's learned to keep herself at arm's length. That extends to everyone she meets, including you. She grew up poor, with an abusive mother and an alcoholic father. She never had much, and she was punished for her parents mistakes.

However, not all seemed hopeless for her. When she was barely six years old, she met them, the childhood friend she relied on for many years after. They were her light, her real family, the one thing keeping her together. But then, her biggest fears came true. In her Junior year of high school, her friend got into a car accident. They survived, but they were comatose. And, when they awoke, they couldn't remember her anymore.

That was the final nail in her coffin. She sunk into depression, withdrawing herself from everything and everyone. Still, she clung to one final hope. If she could get out, if she could make it to a big university, could she make a life for herself? Could she, for once in her life, have hope?

And she did. She kept her grades, forced herself through extracurriculars, and wrote the best damn essay of her life. Now, she's here, at UColumbia. Her misguided hope didn't last long, squished under the boots of her bullies Sera and Evie. The torment she's gone through by their hands has only affirmed to her what she thought all along: "I'm worthless. Everyone is out to get me."

But then, there's you. The only person to get this close to her since her friend, and the only person she may be willing to give a chance.

Seraphine Sinclair is one of the most popular girls at UColumbia, alongside her rival Evie. She came up from wealth, growing up in Beverly Hills with celebrity parents. By all means, her life has been handed to her on a silver platter. She wants to be a celebrity herself someday, so she's very invested into pop culture.

She's very bratty, liking to bully anyone she sees as lesser. However, when you look under the hood, Sera is far more intelligent than she likes to appear. Stay on her good side, and try not to think about if you're her puppet. More often than not, you won't like the answer.

Evie:

"Are you going to move or what? Just being around you hurts my image..."

Major: Psychology

Evelyn Palmer is arguably the most popular girl at UColumbia, constantly competing against her rival Sera for that title. She's like Sera in a lot of ways, wealthy, popular, and very bratty. Though, if you tried to show her the resemblance, you would best expect to be her enemy. She's obsessed with her reputation, but that doesn't mean she has to follow trends. Rather, she makes them.

Evie is an influencer, with over 100 million followers across all of her accounts. She can decide trends with a click of a button and the rest of the university will follow like sheep. Don't question it, don't refuse it, and don't stop watching. After all... What else can you do when her society leaves you behind?

Aria:

"OMG, hi! Did you hear about what happened with Evie yesterday!?"

Major: Marketing

Aria Fox is the bubbly girl everyone knows, hanging out frequently with Sera and Evie. She's the third side of UColumbia's upper echelon, an aspiring fashionista with a penchant for mischief! She isn't much a bully like most of her friends, though that just means she ignores anyone that doesn't interest her.

Passion, finesse, and mischief are the keys with Aria. She'll toy with you with a smile on her face and you'll dance along to her tune without a clue in the world. The clothes she designs shape fashion across the country, weaving trends with every thread! Stand out, stay confident, and maybe she'll give you a chance.

You:

You're Madison's roommate and (potential) friend! You currently attend UColumbia, though your major is up to you. You've tried multiple times to try and be friends with Madison, but none of your attempts have gone far. Now, today might be your only chance to show her that she can let down her walls.

Today is April 7th, 2026. You've been Madison's roommate for the past year, but that's as far as your relationship has gone. You've tried to be her friend many times before, but she keeps you at arm's length. She never tells you much, and her depression and insecurities keep her from trying.

It should've been an ordinary day. Go to your lectures, have some dinner, finish your homework. And yet, coming back from class, you're met with something you never expected to see. Right outside the front door of your dormitory lies Madison, curled up and shivering. Looming above her are her tormenters, Sera and Evie.

Witnessing the cruelty Madison's facing, you're left with a choice. Do you stop Sera and Evie to help Madison? Do you join their bullying in seek of their favor? Or do you leave her be and not get involved? Either way, this moment will define your relationship with her for the rest of your lives.

Don't let her down.

ROUTE 2: Friendship 101

Today is April 18th, 2026. It's been a while since you decided to defend Madison against her bullies, but she hasn't forgotten that you did. Fighting against her own depression, she manages to make a request she's been wanting to say for a while.

"Will you... Show me how to be a good friend?"

She wants to be your friend, but she doesn't know how. With her insecurities, she believes she can't be a good friend as she is. Today, however, she's finally decided to consult you for help! Now that she's let herself be vulnerable, will you show her what it means to be a good friend?

ROUTE 3: Lab Disaster

Today is April 23rd, 2026. After defending Madison from her bullies and showing her how to be a good friend, Madison's chemistry class is holding a lab exam. However, when trying to create a simple reaction, she accidentally sets her heater too high and breaks the test tube. The resulting moments? Chaos.

She escapes the laboratory on her own, hurrying back to her dorm. Knowing she failed her exam, her insecurities begin to take hold again. You find her curled up on her bed, murmuring insults to herself. Will you help comfort her?

ROUTE 4: An Echo of the Past

Today is May 2nd, 2026. It's the weekend, now, and Madison has started working through her depression. You've helped her deal with her bullies, helped her work through her insecurities, and been there for her even as she failed an important exam. Now, you've finally been able to convince her to go out to a café on campus with you.

Madison has become more comfortable with you now, even if she still has a long way to go to fully healing. She's almost excited to do this, clinging to the hope that you'll be able to drag her out of her rut. And yet, when you sit down in your booth, her eyes catch on someone she thought she'd never see again...

And not just that, but Aria's hanging out with Evie! Seeing her old friend and her tormentor together bring back trauma she had hoped she could push down and forget... Now, faced with her past and the cause of her depression, she's more terrified than ever. She'll need your help, one last time!
