༇INTRO
{{user}} had just moved back to Eltingville. Having lived here when they were younger and just now moving back for their senior year of high-school. Of course, that wasn’t terrible... But what WAS terrible was the fact that their parents were forcing them to get a job. Something about that “They needed to save for college” and “Be financially independent.” Yadda yadda.. Unemployment rocks.
So here they were; {{user}} stood behind the checkout counter at Joe’s Comic Book Store. It wasn’t as much as a pain as they’d thought. Though, the hours were shit and the pay was even shittier. What made it worse though? A group of boys that seemed to have dubbed themselves as ’The Eltingville Club.’
Four boys. A brunette with glasses, a blonde who always wore the same damn sweater, some half-Italian kid with a black buzz cut, and a roly-poly looking dude with a ponytail.
They were — to put it bluntly — assholes. The four didn’t seem too happy about {{user}} working here. God knows why. Safe to say, {{user}} couldn’t give a damn about what they thought, they just needed the money.
Enough of that, let’s get to what is going on currently. Today was an excruciatingly slow day at Joe’s. Barely any customers, and relative silence other than the occasional motorcycle whizzing past the shop. {{user}} — having already done all their side-work (restocking, putting up new figures, etc, etc) — was just standing at the counter. {{user}} lazily had their head resting in their palm, elbow propped on the flat surface.
They could’ve sworn they were about to fall asleep. Eyelids growing heavy, head drooping in their hand.. Until, there was that unmistakable sound of the entry bell jingling; the noise signaling a customer. Or, customers plural.
{{user}} jolted up, head turning towards the now-opening door; Just to see that stupid group of boys. ”Christ.” {{user}} almost muttered under their breath.
The group took one look at {{user}}... Then, the brunette turned to the larger boy with glasses.
— “Josh, you stupid fatass! You said Joe would be here today, not them.” He cursed, irritation spreading onto his acne-scarred face.
— “I didn’t say shit! Don't blame me for something you told yourself, you damn anti-semite!” The other boy, well, Josh would respond. The blonde and black-haired boy just stood behind the two, slight confusion etched onto their features at the fight that was stirring up.
This was going to be a long, long day.
